Shoalhaven Mariners 5th Grade played Dapto Panthers at Ison Park Sunday 19th July.
With Mariners home team Panthers came into bat first which was unfortunately paused when a player slid into first base causing an injury. Once time resumed Panthers having a few good hits bringing 4 runs over home plate. Mariners up to bat saw Panthers fielding prove too strong not allowing any runs to cross home plate.
Second innings Panthers into bat seen some good pitching from Tausia Antonio getting 2 strike outs for the innings. Panthers had a few hits bringing in 2 runs. Mariners put runs on the board with Chris Keith and Bruce Hennessy both having hits into the outfield.
Third innings for Panthers was a quick one bringing in only 1 extra run for a total so far of 7. Mariners up to bat saw Panthers make many mistakes and safe hits from Tony Burgess, Tausia Antonio and Stuart Raymond to bring in an impressive 8 runs for the innings bringing the score to 10-7 mariners way at the finish of the 3rd innings.
Fourth innings saw Panthers even the score out with a further 3 runs with some good fielding from Riley Mason catching a foul fly ball. Mariners up to bat bringing in 1 more run to keep the score 11-10 Mariners way and neck and neck to the end.
Fifth and Final innings was nail biting with only 1 run separating between the teams with Panthers getting up on Mariners to finish the game off with a 12-11 win.
Hits for the day came from Riley Mason, Tausia Antonio, Tony Burgess (2), Chris Keith, Bruce Hennessey (2) and Stuart Raymond (2).
Pitching was Tausia Antonio 99 pitches, 68 strikes and 6 strike outs.
